Obituary of Agnes Brassfield
On Thursday, August 12, 2021, Agnes Bernardo Brassfield (lovingly known as Ahkie to many), passed away at the age of 75, from complications due to Covid.
Agnes was born on October 10, 1945, in Angeles City, Philippines. She was the eldest daughter of Jose and Josefina Bernardo, and sister to Sonia, Liza, Tom, Christina, Carmelo, and Bona. Agnes grew up in Angeles City, and graduated from Holy Angel University with a degree in Accounting. She was 19 years old when she moved to the United States, and she settled in Chicago, IL. This is where she met her husband, Billy Brassfield. They married in 1971, and in 1975, they welcomed their daughter Tracy, followed soon by their son Christian in 1977. The family moved to Libertyville, IL, and lived there for 25 years. Professionally, Agnes was a CPA and owner of Core CPA Group in Northbrook, IL. Agnes loved to travel, but her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind her children Tracy (married to John Cargill) and Christian (married to Liliana Brassfield) and her grandchildren Isabella, Eden, and Sebastian. Agnes was a sharp businesswoman, avid traveler, faithful friend, loving aunt, sister, mom, and grandmother. Agnes will be remembered for her generosity, business acuity, compassionate heart, forgiveness, and her repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
The viewing and funeral will be held at McMurrough Funeral Chapel in Libertyville, IL, on Tuesday, August 17 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Burial to follow immediately at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, IL. Due to Covid restrictions, only 25 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time, but we will be live-streaming and recording the service so people may join from wherever they are. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate in Agnes’s memory to your favorite charity.
