Ellen (nee Pettengill) Buier
Ellen Buier, age 82, passed away on October 2, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ellen was born on April 12, 1939 in Islip, New York and later moved to Ithaca, NY where she attended Ithaca High School. She graduated from William Smith College where she met her future husband Robert W. Buier. The two relocated to Derby, NY. Ellen was a laboratory technician and eventually a stay-at-home mother to their two children, Rose Marie and Douglass John. Ellen owned an ice cream parlor and eventually worked for the state of New York.
Ellen was a dedicated volunteer, knowledgeable gardener and accomplished artist. After moving to Illinois to be with her family, she became a master gardener with the Illinois Extension and volunteered her time with various garden committees. She lived at Leisure Village in Fox Lake for 18 years and recently moved to Libertyville, IL to be closer to her family.
Ellen is survived by her children Douglass Buier (Linda) and Rose Grandy (Christopher), grandchildren Gavin, Adam, Sarah and Abigail and brother Jason (Mike) Pettengill.
