Barbara Johnson Benson born 2.15.37; passed 11.25.21
Barbara was born in Brooklyn, NY on 2.15.37. After moving to NJ with her family at age 10, she attended the Beard School in NJ then Hood College in Maryland and found her passion by earning her R.N. from St. Luke's Hospital in NYC. During her marriage to David Smith Benson, she had 6 children, 4 of whom survive. Barbara continued working for many years as a nurse in Buffalo, NYC, Florida, Delaware and her beloved Ocean City, NJ - where she spent many summers growing up - and eventually raised her sons there too. Most recently, she lived in Gurnee, IL
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Helen and Reinhold Johnson; her brother Russ, her son Mark and her daughter Nancy.
She is survived by her sons Greg (Gerri) in Palmyra, NJ; David (AnnMarie) in Beesleys Point, NJ; Doug (Leslie) in Kennett Square, PA; and Russ (Gemma) in Libertyville, IL. She is also survived by grandchildren Carly, Emily, Cameron & Grace as well as her sister Nancy (Tim) Rollings in Plymouth, MA and nephews Andrew (Leigh) and Ben Rollings. Barbara also leaves her companion Richard Perez of Gurnee, IL.

Visitation for Barbara will be on Friday Dec 3rd from 12:00noon until 1:00 pm when there will be a memorial service at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Interment will take place in Ocean City, NJ. Funeral information (847) 362-2626.
