Obituary of Dick George

Dick George, 85, longtime Libertyville resident, passed away Dec 6, 2021. Dick grew up in Southeastern Iowa and graduated from Iowa City High School. He continued his education receiving a B.S. and B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa. He had a longstanding career in mechanical design and was a lifelong inventor holding many patents. Dick was passionate about music and played the tuba and the euphonium in college and community bands including the Northshore Concert Band and the Libertyville Village Band of which he was the co-founder. He loved cooking, photography, antiques and most especially his granddaughters with all his heart.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jane; his loving son Justin (Nicol); his cherished granddaughters Kyra and Gianna; and his dearest brother Robert (Charlene) of Anamosa, Iowa.

Visitation for Dick will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday Dec. 13^th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Northshore Concert Band, 1555 Sherman Ave., #315, Evanston, IL 60201 or the Cook Park Library, 413 N.
