Obituary of Frank J Steslow
Frank J. Steslow, of Grayslake, IL, passed away on August 1, 2022, at the age of 96.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 27 years, Miriam Steslow nee Grens, his second wife of 25 years, Joan Steslow nee Allegretti, parents Frank and Mary Steslow, and his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children, Susan Shams nee Steslow and Rich (Cheryl Hollmier) Steslow; grandchildren, Samantha (Max) Coconato, Shereen, Daniel, Nick, and Jessie; great grandchildren, Kingsley and Finn; and sister, Lucille. Dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Frank was born on April 21, 1926, in Shenandoah, PA. He enjoyed growing up with his many siblings and cousins in his small town. Once enlisted in the Navy, Frank had extensive training in bomb disposal before serving in the Philippines. He graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Maryland, which led to his career as a chemist and then into management for Sherwin-Williams. He traveled extensively across the United States and Europe with Joan. He enjoyed golfing (Nifty Niblicks), fishing, and bridge. He played in many of the local bridge senior groups, even playing last Friday. Frank was also dedicated in fighting for injustices, often saying, “If you see something, do something.”
Frank will be remembered as a kind, humerous, and generous man, always willing to help.
Visitation for Frank will be from 2PM-6PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place. Libertyville, IL 60048. Funeral Mass 10:00AM Friday, August 5, 2022, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 22333 W. Erhart Rd, Mundelein, IL, 60060. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Rt. 59A and Erhart Rd., Fremont Center, IL 60048.
