Obituary of Michele Irene Colice-Cadwell
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michele Irene Colice Cadwell, 69, following
her battle with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) on Sunday, July 31, 2022. She was
surrounded by her loving family.
Michele was born and raised in New York and held on to her New York roots even after years
in the Midwest. She spent her life bringing love and color to the world around her as a talented
artist and dedicated partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She was a welcoming
soul who never passed up the opportunity to have a conversation with anyone. She was a
passionate advocate for the environment, equal rights and was a perpetual champion of the
underdog. She was the life of every party - the first and last person on the dance floor and a
shining light whose absence will be felt greatly by all who knew her.
Michele was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Matilda Colice. Michele is survived
by her beloved husband, John; brother Gene (Betsy); daughters Emily (Alan), Brooke (Myles)
and Laura (Joey); grandchildren Peter, Harper, Lincoln, Wilder and Maddox and nephews and
niece.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Michele’s name to the Lake County Forest
Preserves, 1899 West Winchester Road, Libertyville, Illinois 60048 (lcfpd.org)
As Michele’s last selfless act, a brain donation was coordinated with University of Maryland to
help further research to identify causes, treatments, and hopefully, one day, cures for
devastating diseases including FTD.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 1PM to 6PM at the Cadwell Family Home. For more information, please contact McMurrough Funeral Chapel at (847) 362-2626. Please sign Michele's guestbook at www.libertyvillefuneralhome.com
