Thomas Gottfreid, 63, a cherished resident of Libertyville, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at Condell Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.Born in Chicago to Lawrence and Lorraine Gottfreid, Tom's life was marked by a commitment to achievement and service.  A proud Eagle Scout, he embodied the values of leadership and dedication from a young age.  His pursuit of knowledge led him to Purdue University and later to an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, with continued studies at Northwestern University. Tom's exceptional skills in technology earned him security clearance to work for the Pentagon, a testament to his talent and integrity.  He further demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by founding and leading the Thomas Guard, a security firm dedicated to supporting small businesses.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom was a devoted father, coach, and friend.  Known affectionately as "Coach Tom," he dedicated over a decade to coaching his daughters' soccer teams, forging lasting bonds with his players and remaining a constant presence in their lives.  His unwavering support extended to every swim meet and track event, ensuring that he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his girls.  Tom's genuine warmth and generosity touched the lives of his neighbors and friends, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  An active member of the GVLM Chamber of Commerce, he was a passionate advocate for local businesses.  A man of deep faith, Tom was also a longtime member of St. Joseph Parish. Tom's vibrant personality and infectious joy brought light to every room he entered. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
