I first met Bill in Kindergarten at the old Hough street School in Barrington. He was the biggest guy in the class and I was about the smallest, so we made a good team. Our first adventure came about when I dragged him over to my grandmother's house after school. We set up some plastic bowling pins in the kitchen and we bowled. Bill transfered to St. Anne School in Barrington for first grade. I did not see much of Bill until high school at Barrington. He remained very big and I was the runt. We both wrestled in Barrington's first year of wrestling competition. Bill was the heavy weight and I was at the 112 pound class. We both lost our first matches after about two days of practice. Bill was always funny and engaging. He gained a reputation for being an inventor type, who liked to tinker with things. He leaned on what he learned as a tinker throughout his professional life. It also took him to Notre Dame. During his working years, he built a model train in his backyard. He gave rides to all of the area kids on that train and the big kids too.
I recall Bill and Val's wedding day. I was accused of crying at their ceremony. My wedding took place the following weekend. I had taken my blood test and on the way out of the Doctor's Office I fainted. The nurse revived me a bottle of amonia and spilled it in my face and eyes. My eyes were still watering at Bill's wedding. We remined good friends through the years and I loved him even though he was a Domer.
God bless a very good man and friend..

We knew Bill and his family for nearly 40 years. We had the pleasant surprise..besides our children or being visited by Santa Bill and his elves.
We will always remember his as having a smile, and quick, clever wit. We came to love him and all his family. And he and they are all in our prayers.

In this time of sorrow, my thoughts are with the family. I knew Bill from Baxter Healthcare. He was always cheerful, a genuine person who was always true to his word. Thanks to him, I have had the pleasure of knowing his wife Val as one of my best friends.

I remember Bill from grammar school at St Anne's. The Dunns were such an important part of St Anne's - living right next door. The street in front of their house was our "playground". Bill always reminded me in our adult years that it was my father Sylvester Kashinski who helped Bill get an acceptance to Notre Dame. I am proud that my family helped him achieve such a beloved goal. What a wonderful family Bill and Val created! Their Christmas card is sensational. Rest in peace dear Bill. Heaven has gained a wonderful smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. So sorry for your loss. As a childhood friend of Bill's daughter Megan, I spent many hours at the Dunn home. Always a fun and welcoming place to be. I remember the train through the yard, with Bill as the happy engineer! Lots of other great memories too. Your dad will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers to your family.
