Obituary of William Dunn

William J Dunn, 70, of Libertyville for 49 years and formerly of Barrington, passed away May 2, 2014 in Libertyville. Bill attended St. Anne's Grammar School, Barrington High School ('61) and the University of Notre Dame ('65). Bill's career started at Moday, Inc.; Quaker Industries, Antioch; Kendall Co., V. Mueller and Baxter International designing medical products. He was named in several patents. In Libertyville, Bill was active in St. Joseph's Church (Lector, Extraordinary Minister and CCD Teacher). He was President of the Libertyville Boat Club (Lake Minear Beach) for 18 years. He was an official Santa's Helper for 50 years and volunteered at Equestrian Connection. His hobbies included trains, art, blacksmithing, golden retrievers and everything Notre Dame. In 2012 Bill receieved an award for his service to the Notre Dame Senior Alumni Association. Bill survived by his beloved wife of 49 years of marriage Valerie (nee Lahey); his prized children Jennifer (Bob) Frentzel, Laura (Mark) Wriedt, Amy (Ray) Flores, Megan (Scott) Sutter and Patty (Al) Treccia; his adored grandchildren Katie, Maggie, Kelly, Ryan, George, Allison, Elizabeth, Ellen, Megan, Jake, Lilly, Joey, Molly, Emily, Lucy, Annie and Charlie; his cherished brother and sister Tim (Chris) Dunn and Nancy Dunn; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Elizabeth (nee Kirby) Dunn, brother Dennis Dunn and grandson Nicholas Frentzel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday May 7, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville with interment following at Ascension Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 6 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:15 to 9:45 am at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville.
