Arnold Louis Johnson Jr. formerly of Diamond Lake (Mundelein) Arnold Louis Johnson Jr., 79, died Feb. 18, 2013, in Libertyville.
He was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Chicago, graduated Taft High School and moved to Diamond Lake n the late 1950's. Arnold had served with the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal as a master electrician. Following his Navy discharge he became a member of the I.B.E.W. 134 electrical union. Arnold was a proficient photographer and an avid race car fan. While living on Diamond Lake he enjoyed sailboating and coaching his sons in competition water skiing.
He is survived by his loving children Pamela Gehrke, James (Donna) Johnson, David (Dawn) Johnson and Gary Johnson, his cherished grandchildren Nicole, Leah, Christopher, Cassie, Zachary and Teagan Johnson, his dearest great-grandchild Emily Gillcrist and his dear brother & sister Gerald (Diane) and Charleen. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Arnold,Sr.and Alice and his sister Carol.
Visitation services will be Friday Feb.22 from 4-7PM at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Ltd., 101 Park Place (Route 176, one block east of Milwaukee Ave.), Libertyville where military honors will be rendered at 7 PM. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery,Elwood, IL. If desired, memorial donations made to the Alzheimer's Association . would be greatly appreciated. Funeral info 847-362-2626 .
