Dear Bill, Kelly, Billy, Sean, Michael, and Family,
As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus at Saint Viator High School, I offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator/Sacred Heart of Mary community, as well as my own. I remember Mary from her days at Sacred Heart of Mary, when I worked there as Assistant Principal. I am sorry I was not at the funeral services to express our sympathy to you in person, but we did not find out about the services until after they had occurred.
Know that our hearts go out to you as you begin your journey of grief. You are in our prayers as you share the stories, laugh and cry, and find ways to celebrate your wife, your mother, your sister, and the love you shared.
As I read the obituary for this woman whose "family was her pride and joy" and whose friends describe her as "loving"…"always so thoughtful of everyone," I was reminded of an adaptation of a reading from the Book of Sirach.
Let us praise an illustrious woman,
faithful to her family and friends, strong in her love.
At peace in her heart and her world,
she has left us her good name, and we recount her life of praiseworthy deeds.
A generous woman her good works will never be forgotten.
Among her family and friends remains a rich
inheritance born of her….
Her name lives on from generation to generation.
We gather to sing her praises.
We proclaim her wisdom and love of life all our days.
We appreciate the fact that you mentioned Sacred Heart of Mary in Mary’s obituary notice and we want you to know that we are proud to “claim” Mary as an alumna.
We will remember Mary and celebrate the fact that she continues to be a member of our community at our annual Alumni Memorial Mass in November at Saint Viator High School in the Alumni Memorial Chapel. Information about this gathering is available at SaintViator.com in the Alumni section. As is our tradition, next October we will order a plaque with Mary’s name to prayerfully honor her, along with other deceased alumni from Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary, on a wall in the chapel. Also, Mary’s name will be listed in the "In Memoriam" section of the spring issue of our news magazine, A Lion for Life.
May God’s promise that life is changed, not ended, comfort you!
May the knowledge your wife, your mother, your sister, lives on in your goodness give you peace and hope!
Take care and God bless you with those gifts you most need!
Judith

Dear Mary and family,
I have to say I was shocked to hear of Mary's passing We have been friends since 1983 when I was doing Bill's mom and Mary's hair in Libertyville. Bill and Mary, Bob and I both moved to Lindenhurst in the same subdivision, and eventually both our families grew. In 1993. Our family moved back to Elkhorn Wis. We always kept in touch but not as often as we should have.
Mary and her family loved our county fair, art, and craft show, Lakeland Bakery here in Elkhorn, and visiting Lake Geneva.
She was a good friend and always so thoughtful of everyone. I was honored to once again do her hair, she looked beautiful and at peace. I will miss you my friend and know you will watch over us all.
Love you,
Deb, Bob

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Mary?
A: Mary ‘s devotion and love of her family and friends was unconditional. Her love for Bill and her children were first and foremost. She was always in the know with her beautiful and loving children and they loved her to the moon and back because of that. Mary and her family were honored guests at all our family events, picnics, birthdays and celebrations. They have all become an important part of our family and we love you all so much. Thank you for sharing her with us for all these years. We have so many wonderful memories of Mary and her family. We will keep her in our hearts and thoughts forever knowing how blessed we have been to have had her to share such beautiful memories with over the years. Rest well beautiful Mary. Until we meet again.
